Top 5 Stress Relief Quotes

I believe that the year 2020 has either brought a greater than normal amount of stress on individuals, or a lesser amount.

As an athlete that had my hopes on making a bid for the 2020 Olympic Games; to have a more serious injury come at the start of the year (a stress fracture in my heel), I felt a greater than normal amount of stress. My mind instantly went to how I was going to make the impossible happen and make the Olympic team with only 1 month of real training and 3 months of cross training (biking, pool running, etc.).

What I could not have predicted was that the rest of the world would also be put on hold and the Olympic Games would be postponed to 2021. This would instead allow me to shift the focus of this year to giving my body and mind some much needed rest (that it hasn’t truly had over the past 4 years of being a student-athlete, training and racing at a high level, and working).

While external events had a large impact on relieving the stress that I was feeling, the following are some of my favourite quotes that got me through the more difficult and uncertain moments of this year:

“What if 2020 isn’t cancelled?⁣

What if 2020 is the year we’ve been waiting for?⁣

A year so uncomfortable, so painful, so scary, so raw — that it finally forces us to grow.⁣

A year that screams so loud, finally awakening us from our ignorant slumber.⁣

A year we finally accept the need for change.⁣

Declare change. Work for change. Become the change. A year we finally band together, instead of⁣

pushing each other further apart.⁣

2020 isn’t cancelled, but rather⁣

the most important year of them all.”

“Someday you’ll realize that everything you’ve gone through was a blessing in disguise. Things didn’t work out the way you expected them to because you were being prepared for something better, and all the restless nights wondering why everything happened to you will finally make sense.”

I hope that for some or all of you, these quotes help you the way they have helped me. Amidst all of the stress, to relax in a stressful year where everything is uncertain. Because truthfully, time is always temporary and nothing is ever certain.

The best that you can do is all that matters.
